La materia è (anche) amara. Intransigente quando vuole, tutt’altro che scintillante, densa di umore e carattere. Terrena e sapiente, possiede ataviche memorie che si trasformano in gioiello, unico nella sua attenta manifattura. Un ornamento realizzato in bronzo, argento, pietre naturali preziose e semi preziose evoca eventi che appartengono al passato, scuote il tempo e accoglie lo spirito, si intreccia alla storia di chi lo indossa, diventando amuleto la cui identità non si trova in una ordinaria lucentezza quanto nella ricercatezza di quei dettagli più aspri e determinati.
Angostura è un brand fatto di forme dirompenti, armoniosamente ruvide, che uniscono gli stilemi del passato e della classicità a note più pungenti, originali, deliziosamente amarognole, nei loro dettagli molto curati. Un’eleganza decisa com’è la materia quando la si lascia libera di decidere, scorrere, e fissarsi in un’esistenza che ha scoperto il segreto dell’eternità.
Matter is (also) bitter. Intransigent when it wants, anything but glittering, filled with mood and character. Earthly and wise, it preserves atavistic memories that are turning into a jewel, unique in its careful manufacture. An ornament made of bronze, silver, precious and semi-precious natural stones evokes events which belong to the past, shakes time and welcomes the spirit, is intertwined with the history of its wearer, becoming an amulet whose identity is not in the ordinary brightness but at the contrary in the sophistication of harsh and bold details.
Angostura is a brand made up of disruptive, harmoniously rough shapes, combining the stylistic features of the past and classicism with more biting, original, deliciously bitter notes, in their charming details. A decisive elegance similar to matter when it is free to decide, flow, and fixate in an existence that has discovered the secret of eternity.

La materia è allora (anche) amara come una bevanda a base di erbe aromatiche chiamata proprio Angostura. Fu inventata dal dottor Johann Siegert, medico militare prussiano e componente dell’Armata di Liberazione di Simón Bolívar. A partire dal 1824, quella formula dal sapore così particolare divenne celebre diffondendosi a livello globale. È alle qualità amare del celebre Angostura che si è ispirata la designer romana Giulia Tavani, le cui creazioni sono frutto di un percorso formativo e creativo particolarmente interessante che va dagli studi di grafica pubblicitaria allo IED per proseguire all’Accademia delle arti orafe di Roma. Dal 2014 il brand made in Italy realizza gioielli completamente a mano e solo su ordinazione, un processo che preserva l’unicità di ogni singola creazione.
Thus, the matter is (also) as bitter as an aromatic herbal drink called Angostura. It was invented by Dr Johann Siegert, Prussian military doctor and member of the Simón Bolívar Liberation Army. Since 1824 this formula characterized by a particular flavor became famous spreading globally. That’s to the bitter qualities of the famous Angostura that the Roman designer Giulia Tavani was inspired, whose creations are the result of a particularly interesting training and creative path which starts from graphic design studies at the IED to continue at the Accademia delle arti orafe in Rome. Since 2014, the made in Italy brand has been creating jewelry entirely handmade and only on request, a process that preserves the uniqueness of each individual creation.

Culture antiche indigene, memorie tribali, equilibrio tra materia e spirito, tra tangibile e intangibile, sono l’essenza di questo progetto. AnGostura racconta di cammini negli spazi più remoti del mondo alla ricerca di una connessione creativa con l’archetipo per lasciare una traccia, tornare irrequieti e dare una forma all’esperienza vissuta.
Le collezioni Angostura parlano della necessità di scendere nelle profondità del visibile per raggiungere quella materia inaccessibile, a prima vista angusta, acre, insolente che però custodisce e protegge gelosamente la memoria delle cose. Non è un caso se gli antichi amuleti (dal lat. amuletum) fossero in materiale naturale, prevalentemente vegetale o minerale, funzionando come oggetto protettivo per chi lo indossava.
Ancient indigenous cultures, tribal memories, balance between matter and spirit, between tangible and intangible, are the essence of this project. AnGostura relates how is walking in the most remote spaces of the world in search of a creative connection with the archetype in order to leave a trace, returning restless, and giving a shape to the lived experience.
The Angostura collections relates the need to descend into the depths of the visible to reach that inaccessible material, at first sight cramped, acrid, insolent, which jealously defends and protects the memory of things. It is no coincidence that the ancient amulets (from the latin amuletum) were made up of natural material, mainly vegetable or mineral, functioning as a protective object for those who wore it.

Il brand romano è stato indossato da personalità celebri come Lily Gatins, Miley Cyrus ma anche Asia Argento, e Erykah Badu, trovando un ampio e immediato consenso. Proprio la collezione ispirata alla cultura del Marocco è stata dedicata ad Erykah Badu, amica della designer, da cui proviene il nome Maerykah. La forma, il colore della materia, le combinazioni tra i dettagli, l’accostamento delle pietre con il bronzo e l’argento, la coesistenza simbiotica dei particolari, rendono le superfici delle creazioni firmate Angostura uniche ed esclusive, anche in quelle impercettibili imperfezioni che raccontano la genesi dell’identità di un gioiello che scegliendo chi lo indosserà, ne accoglierà personalità e memorie.
The roman brand was worn by famous personalities such as Lily Gatins, Miley Cyrus but also Asia Argento, and Erykah Badu, garnering instant and broad success. The collection inspired by the culture of Morocco has been dedicated to Erykah Badu, friend of the designer, hence the name Maerykah. The shape, the color of the material, the combinations of details, the juxtapposition of stones, bronze and silver, the symbiotic coexistence of the details, make the surfaces of the Angostura creations unique and exclusive, even in those imperceptible imperfections that recount the genesis of the identity of a jewel that will welcome the personalities and memories of who will wear it, by choosing the weaver.
