Il Gruppo Prada approda a Milazzo e contribuisce alla digitalizzazione del MuMa con UNESCO-IOC

In occasione della Giornata Mondiale dell’Oceano, il Gruppo Prada, in partnership con UNESCO-IOC, ha annunciato il supporto alla digitalizzazione degli interi spazi museali e dei contenuti del MuMa - Museo del Mare di Milazzo. Let’s digitize MuMa è il nome del progetto che lo scorso 20 maggio 2022 in occasione degli European Maritime Day (EMD) 2022 di Ravenna, è stato insignito dalla DG Mare della Commissione Europea del prestigioso premio EU4Ocean.

On the occasion of World Ocean Day, the Prada Group, in partnership with UNESCO-CIO, announced its support for the digitization of entire museum spaces and the contents of the MuMa - Museum of the Sea of ​​Milazzo. Let’s digitize MuMa is the name of the project that on 20 May 2022 on the occasion of the European Maritime Days (EMD) 2022 in Ravenna, was awarded the EU4Ocean prize by the DG Mare of the European Commission.

Il MuMa diventa così un museo aperto a tutti, con adeguamenti multimediali per rendere accessibili i contenuti a persone con disabilità visive e uditive, giochi didattici interattivi, esperienze di realtà virtuale e installazioni artistiche multimediali. Sarà infatti possibile fruire di numerosi contenuti interattivi tra cui: un virtual tour, totem touch-screen, una guida del museo digitale.

The MuMa becomes a museum open to all, with multimedia adaptations to make the contents accessible to people with visual and hearing disabilities, interactive educational games, virtual reality experiences and multimedia art installations. In fact, it will be possible to enjoy numerous interactive contents including: a virtual tour, touch-screen totems, a guide to the digital museum.

Il MuMa è un viaggio spirituale per riscoprire l'armonia tra uomo e mare attraverso scienza e arte. Nasce dalla commovente storia di un capodoglio, ribattezzato Siso, che nell’estate del 2017 si è spiaggiato al largo delle Isole Eolie, morendo impigliato a causa di una rete da pesca illegale. Dopo lo straordinario recupero dell’animale, il cui stomaco conteneva molta plastica ingerita in vita, il biologo e direttore del MuMa Carmelo Isgrò ha ricostruito lo scheletro oggi al centro del museo, mostrato insieme alla rete illegale che l’ha ucciso e alla plastica ingerita.

The MuMa is a spiritual journey to rediscover the harmony between man and sea through science and art. It was born from the moving story of a sperm whale, renamed Siso, which in the summer of 2017 beached off the Aeolian Islands, dying entangled due to an illegal fishing net. After the extraordinary recovery of the animal, whose stomach contained a lot of plastic ingested in life, the biologist and director of MuMa Carmelo Isgrò reconstructed the skeleton today in the center of the museum, shown together with the illegal net that killed it and the ingested plastic.

“Con questo grande progetto”, ha spiegato Carmelo Isgrò, “In partner con l’Ufficio Regionale UNESCO per la Scienza e la Cultura in Europa, realizzato grazie al supporto del Gruppo Prada, si è reso possibile far visitare e conoscere il MuMa in tutto il mondo”. Il messaggio di speranza del capodoglio Siso troverà spazio quindi anche fuori dai confini dell’isola.
