Monili in mostra a Roma. Dal 10 ottobre fino al 13 dello stesso mese la Capitale omaggerà il mondo del gioiello contemporaneo alla prima edizione di Premio Incinque Jewels. Una mostra collettiva, promossa dall’Associazione Culturale Incinque Open Art Monti, presso l’omonima galleria romana.
Curata da Monica Cecchini e dall’artista orafo Emanuele Leonardi , la kermesse ha come obiettivo quello di «favorire una riflessione sul tema della comunicazione in senso ampio e includente, creare un dialogo tra colui che realizza l’opera e chi la osserva.» Spiegano Cecchini e Leonardi. Un risultato ambizioso, dato che quando si parla di arte contemporanea si denota spesso una difficoltà di comprensione. Per diversi motivi: i materiali utilizzati, il contesto; l’ermetismo che scaturisce dalle opere. E a volte anche l’arte del gioiello può incapparvi.
Jewelery on display in Rome. From October 10th until the 13th of the same month, the Eternal City will honor the world of contemporary jewelery at the first edition of Incinque Jewels Award. A collective exhibition, promoted by the Incinque Open Art Monti Cultural Association, at the homonymous Roman gallery.
Curated by Monica Cecchini and the goldsmith artist Emanuele Leonardi, the event aims to «encourage a reflection on the theme of communication in a broad and inclusive sense, creating a dialogue between who realizes the work and who observes it.» Cecchini and Leonardi explain. An ambitious result, given that when it comes to contemporary art there is often a difficulty in understanding. For several reasons: the materials used, the context; the hermeticism that comes from the works. And sometimes even the art of jewelry can catch it.
Anello presente in mostra
In passato, quando i nobili - sia donne che uomini - venivano ritratti dai pittori di corte, usavano indossare tutti (ma proprio tutti) i monili a loro disposizione. A livello semantico, questa usanza voleva dimostrare il grado di ricchezza della famiglia aristocratica. Da sempre, quindi, la gioielleria è un settore in stretta connessione con il simbolismo. Infatti, lo stesso Premio Incinque, «Vuole indagare sulla funzione del gioiello come oggetto simbolico, non solo dalla valenza artistica, ma come portatore di un messaggio dal valore sociale, che trasmetta una storia sottolineandone le origini e la volontà di trasmetterle con nuove interpretazioni, così da unire mondi trasversali e culture differenti.»
In the past, when the nobles - both women and men - were portrayed by court painters, they used to wear all (for real) the jewelry available to them. At the semantic level, this custom wanted to demonstrate the wealth of the aristocratic family. Therefore, jewelery has always been a sector in close connection with symbolism. In fact, the Incinque Prize itself, «It wants to investigate the function of the jewel as a symbolic object, not only from the artistic value, but as the bearer of a message with a social value, which transmits a story emphasizing its origins and the will to transmit them with new interpretations, so as to unite transversal worlds and different cultures.»
Per i suddetti motivi, il concorso è volto a valorizzare le arti e tecniche antiche assieme ai codici attuali. I finalisti e i vincitori saranno coloro che realizzeranno l’oggetto in grado di unire al meglio entrambe le prospettive. «Partendo dalle nostre radici culturali, dall’eccellente passato nelle arti orafe, il fine dell’esposizione legata al concorso, è quello di generare nuova linfa creativa, promuovendo la cultura e la conoscenza del Gioiello Contemporaneo nella città di Roma, sede storicamente deputata alla creatività.»
For the aforementioned reasons, the competition is aimed at enhancing the ancient arts and techniques together with the current codes. The finalists and the winners will be those who will realize the object that can best combine both perspectives. «Starting from our cultural roots, from the excellent past in the goldsmith arts, the aim of the exhibition linked to the competition, is to generate new creative life, promoting the culture and knowledge of Contemporary Jewelery in the city of Rome, a place historically dedicated to creativity.»

La giuria che selezionerà i primi cinque finalisti, i quali potranno partecipare alla Milano Jewelry Week dal 24 ottobre al 27 ottobre 2019 e che premierà i primi tre, con la possibilità di avere una propria esibizione presso la Galleria Incinque, è composta da nomi noti al mondo del gioiello contemporaneo: Bianca Cappello, Storica e Critica del Gioiello, docente ed autrice di diverse pubblicazioni sul Gioiello e sulla Bigiotteria. Eugenia Gadaleta, consulente di comunicazione e marketing nei settori Gioiello e Moda. Emanuele Leonardi, Direttore artistico dell'evento, Artista fautore del "Gioiello Narratore”; Marina Valli, Designer del gioiello, presidente dell'associazione romana Officine dei Talenti Preziosi OTP e docente in Designer del Gioiello. E, infine, Monica Cecchini, Architetto, Designer, Curatrice di eventi d'arte e Presidente dell'Associazione Incinque Open Art Monti.
The jury that will select the first five finalists, who will be able to participate in the Milan Jewelry Week from October 24th to October 27th 2019 and who will award the first three, with the possibility of having their own performance at the Incinque Gallery, is composed of names known to the world of contemporary jewelery: Bianca Cappello, Historical and Jewelery Critics, lecturer and author of several publications on Jewelery and Costume Jewelery. Eugenia Gadaleta, communication and marketing consultant in the Jewel and Fashion fields. Emanuele Leonardi, Artistic Director of the event, Artist advocate of "Gioiello Narratore”; Marina Valli, jewelry designer, president of the Roman association Officine dei Talenti Preziosi OTP and professor of Jewelery Designer. And, finally, Monica Cecchini, Architect, Designer, Curator of art events and President of the Incinque Open Art Monti Association.
La bellezza dei gioielli attraverso la letteratura. Sara Cappello ad animare ulteriormente la giornata di sabato 12 con la presentazione del libro Storia della fibbia tra Moda e Gioiello. Un volume «che tramite un attento studio intreccia Costume, Arte e Gioiello per tracciare un inedito percorso visivo e di ricerca mostra come le fibbie - da scarpa, da cintura, da pantalone, da mantello, da cappello, ecc. - siano state nel corso dei secoli fondamentali indicatori di status sociale, attente spie dei cambiamenti del gusto, sempre al passo con innovazioni estetiche, tecnologiche e materiche.
Una selezione di fibbie provenienti dalla collezione Pennasilico, una tra le più importanti al mondo, e una ricerca iconografica ricca di ritratti e illustrazioni dell’epoca che contestualizzano questo oggetto nell’abito e sul corpo, testimoniando l’evoluzione della moda da un nuovo punto di vista.» Concludono i curatori.
The beauty of jewels through literature. Sara Cappello will be the one to animate the day on Saturday 12 with the presentation of the book Storia della fibbia tra Moda e Gioiello. A volume «that through a careful study interweaves Costume, Art and Jewelry to trace an unprecedented visual and research path, showing how the buckles - from a shoe, from a belt, from trousers, from cloak, from a hat, etc. - have been fundamental indicators of social status over the centuries, careful spies of taste changes, always in step with aesthetic, technological and material innovations.
A selection of buckles from the Pennasilico collection, one of the most important in the world, and an iconographic research full of portraits and period illustrations that contextualize this object in the dress and on the body, testifying to the evolution of fashion from a new point of view.» Conclude the curators.

Alle ore 19:00, durante la serata, vi sarà una visita guidata “I Fori Imperiali al crepuscolo” a cura di Alessandra Rossi.
Seguirà una performance artistica all’interno della Galleria Incinque.
