Dietro alla realizzazione un progetto c’è sempre una storia personale. Spesso si rivela in (auto)biografie, altre volte in creazioni che comunicano senza troppi giri di parole le particolarità, le sfumature del suo fondatore. È il caso di FLAVA, brand contemporaneo di bijoux voluto da Camilla, giovane ed eclettica lombarda con la passione per i gioielli e i dettagli. Anche quando si tratta di annotare quelli degli altri, intervistatori compresi. Ed è per questo che i suoi anelli colorati - o “pop-ulent” -, come li definisce lei, fatti interamente con le sue mani, sono recentemente esplosi sui social, in particolare Instagram, la piattaforma con cui FLAVA si fa conoscere sin dai recenti esordi.

Behind the realization of a project there is always a personal story. Often it reveals itself in (self)biographies, other times in creations that communicate the particularities, the nuances of its founder without too many words. This is the case of FLAVA, a contemporary bijoux brand wanted by Camilla, a young and eclectic lombard with a passion for jewels and details. Even when it comes to noting those of others, including interviewers. And this is why the colored rings of her - or "pop-ulent" -, as she defines them, made entirely with her hands, have recently exploded on social networks, in particular Instagram, the platform with which FLAVA makes itself known since its recent beginnings.

- Sì, sto confezionando gli ultimi anelli FLAVA che poi saranno pronti per essere spediti. -

Camilla, are you sitting at your banquet making a FLAVA ring?

- Yes, I'm packing the latest FLAVA rings which will then be ready to be shipped. -

Come mai hai dato questo nome al tuo progetto?

- Il nome del brand è nato dall’accostamento tra flavour, quindi “gusto”, come se i pezzi, con i loro colori, ricordassero degli aromi e dei profumi fruttati e lava, una materia fluida e morbida, da plasmare fino al risultato desiderato. Da qui la crasi delle due parole: è nato FLAVA. -

Why did you give to your project this name?

- The name of the brand was born from the combination of flavor, therefore "taste", as if the pieces, with their colors, recalled aromas and fruity and lava aromas, a fluid and soft material, to be molded to the desired result . Hence the crasis of the two words: FLAVA was born. -

Ed è nato perché?

- Dalla mia passione per i gioielli in generale e dalla voglia di avere pezzi unici da poter indossare con ogni tipo di outfit. Proprio per questo, avevo la necessità che fossero economicamente accessibili. Tutto è iniziato per soddisfare un’esigenza personale, poi gli anelli sono piaciuti e mi sono resa conto che potevano essere non soltanto miei. -

And why was it born?

- From my passion for jewelry in general and the desire to have unique pieces that can be worn with any type of outfit. Precisely for this reason, I needed them to be affordable. It all started to satisfy a personal need, then I liked the rings and I realized that they could not only be mine. -

Quando ci siamo incontrate la prima volta mi hai detto che sei quasi maniacale nel notare i dettagli, tu stessa li ricerchi su di te: quello che distingue FLAVA dagli altri brand?

- La cura del dettaglio ricorre molto nella mia vita in generale. Cercando di rendere ogni anello personalizzabile nelle forme e nei colori, ho voluto creare un accessorio utilizzabile nella quotidianità, fatta di semplicità ma anche di occasioni speciali. FLAVA si distingue per la customizzazione estrema, per l’attenzione al prodotto che voglio sia fondamentalmente bello nelle sue imperfezioni e per una cura del cliente che viene assistito e, se necessario, accompagnato nella scelta del pezzo perfetto. -

When we first met, you told me that you are almost obsessive in noting details, you look for them on yourself: what distinguishes FLAVA from other brands?

- Attention to detail recurs a lot in my life in general. Trying to make each ring customizable in shapes and colors, I wanted to create an accessory that can be used in everyday life, made of simplicity but also of special occasions. FLAVA stands out for its extreme customization, for the attention to the product that I want to be fundamentally beautiful in its imperfections and for customer care who is assisted and, if necessary, accompanied in choosing the perfect piece. -

Eppure bijoux simili ai tuoi sono molto di tendenza, nonostante questo sei recentemente “esplosa”, specialmente su Instagram: il fattore di successo?

- Sicuramente la condivisione sui social ha aiutato a diffondere il progetto. Sono partita con un esperimento di marketing tutto mio che ha funzionato e da lì sono arrivati i primi ordini. Questo ha creato un circolo virtuoso, grazie alla condivisione dei pezzi da parte dei clienti tramite post, che diventano, essi stessi, un’ottima pubblicità per il brand. -

Yet bijoux similar to yours are very trendy, despite this you have recently “exploded”, especially on Instagram: the success factor?

- Sharing on social networks has certainly helped to spread the project. I started with my own marketing experiment that worked and the first orders came from there. This has created a virtuous circle, thanks to the sharing of pieces by customers through posts, which themselves become excellent advertising for the brand. -

Base e pietre colorate, mixate tra di loro: ti diverte giocare con gli abbinamenti cromatici?

- Amo le combinazioni tono su tono ma anche abbinamenti inaspettati, sia nelle forme che nei colori, magari legati ad altri elementi dell’outfit con cui si vuole proporre l’anello. Trovo che un look neutro possa davvero essere arricchito da un elemento piccolo che cattura l’attenzione, trasformando un’estetica ordinaria in qualcosa davvero “fuori dal comune”. -

Base and colored stones, mixed together: do you enjoy playing with color combinations?

- I love tone-on-tone combinations but also unexpected combinations, both in shapes and colors, perhaps linked to other elements of the outfit with which you want to propose the ring. I find that a neutral look can really be enriched by a small element that catches the eye, transforming an ordinary aesthetic into something truly "out of the ordinary". -

Lavori anche su misura: una storia di un cliente che ti ha particolarmente colpito e ricordi?

- Posso raccontare la richiesta di una cliente che mi ha chiesto un anello da creare totalmente a mio gusto. Lei è una persona che veste in modo molto semplice – tendenzialmente sempre di nero – e non indossa mai gioielli al di fuori della fede nuziale. Ho voluto osare creandole un pezzo verde smeraldo (decisamente oltre la sua comfort zone) per il mignolo. Risultato? L’ha indossato subito e lo porta praticamente tutti i giorni. -

You also work on request: a story of a client who particularly impressed you and do you remember?

- I can tell the request of a customer who asked me for a ring to be created totally to my taste. She is a person who dresses very simply - basically always in black - and never wears jewelry outside of the wedding band. I wanted to be daring by creating an emerald green piece (definitely beyond her comfort zone) for her little finger. The result? She wore it immediately and wears it practically every day. -

Ti ispirano loro?

- Sembra banale ma cerco di osservare molto e di trarre ispirazione da qualunque cosa, anche se apparentemente scollegata dal concetto di estetica o di moda e accessorio. Le proposte dei clienti sono sicuramente uno spunto fantastico per guardare con occhi diversi e sperimentare abbinamenti che non avrei pensato e che, di fatto sempre, risultano vincenti ed efficaci. -

Do they inspire you?

- It seems trivial but I try to observe a lot and draw inspiration from anything, even if apparently disconnected from the concept of aesthetics or fashion and accessory. The proposals of the customers are certainly a fantastic starting point to look with different eyes and experiment combinations that I would not have thought of and that, in fact, always turn out to be winning and effective. -

Cos’altro?

- Amo come FLAVA, nonostante un’estetica molto pop (che mi piace definire pop-ulent date anche la dimensione e l’importanza di alcuni pezzi), racchiuda davvero un’artigianalità fortissima. Dietro ogni pezzo devi pensare a me seduta a un tavolo che lavoro il materiale e cerco lo strass perfetto da applicare, limo il pezzo e lo perfeziono fino ad arrivare al risultato finale. Ogni anello racconta una storia che è fatta di ciò che il cliente si è immaginato prima, del lavoro che faccio io pensando a quando verrà indossato e del momento in cui effettivamente viene portato per la prima volta. Una storia molto lontana dalla produzione di massa di cui si parla molto e un concetto di slow fashion che vivo davvero nelle mie mani. -

What else?

- I love how FLAVA, despite a very pop aesthetic (which I like to call pop-ulent also given the size and importance of some pieces), it really contains a very strong craftsmanship. Behind each piece you have to think of me sitting at a table working the material and looking for the perfect rhinestone to apply, silting the piece and perfecting it until I get to the final result. Each ring tells a story that is made up of what the customer imagined before, the work I do thinking about when it will be worn and when it is actually worn for the first time. A story very far from mass production that is talked about a lot and a concept of slow fashion that I really live in my hands. -

Vorresti realizzare anche altri pezzi?

- Mi piacerebbe perfezionarmi sempre più nella creazione degli anelli, ma spostarmi anche su altre categorie come orecchini e ciondoli. Su queste non ho ancora totalmente maturato una proposta innovativa ed esteticamente unica per come la intendo io, ma sento che arriverà presto sperimentando anche nuovi materiali con cui impreziosire o personalizzare ulteriormente i pezzi. -

Would you like to make other pieces too?

- I'd like to improve myself more and more in the creation of the rings, but also move on to other categories such as earrings and pendants. On these I have not yet fully developed an innovative and aesthetically unique proposal as I understand it, but I feel that it will arrive soon, also experimenting with new materials with which to embellish or further customize the pieces. -

Tornando ai dettagli: quali hai notato di me?

- Ho notato unghie corte ma curatissime come piace a me, colorate con un grigio antracite molto elegante (F35 me lo ricordo ancora!) e i tuoi stivaletti, soluzione molto pratica per quella giornata di pioggia ma soprattutto super cool. -

Returning to the details: which ones did you notice about me?

- I noticed short but very well-kept nails as I like them, colored with a very elegant anthracite gray (F35 I still remember it!) And your ankle boots, a very practical solution for that rainy day but above all super cool. -

FLAVA tra 5 anni?

- Spero sarà un progetto conosciuto e che i pezzi di FLAVA (non solo anelli) verranno indossati accompagnando molte persone negli eventi più belli e significativi per loro, anche da condividere sui social, perché no. -

FLAVA in 5 years?

- I hope it will be a well-known project and that the FLAVA pieces (not just rings) will be worn accompanying many people in the most beautiful and meaningful events for them, also to be shared on social networks, why not. -
