Caterina, parlaci del tuo percorso personale e lavorativo che ti ha portato a creare la tua prima collezione.

- Dopo anni di consulenza all'interno di un’azienda di moda spagnola ed infiniti viaggi di lavoro e piacere mi sono ritrovata, con un bagaglio già ampio di creatività, nella splendida Danimarca. Copenaghen mi ha letteralmente incantato ed ispirato. Le linee pulite e minimali che la caratterizzano; l'architettura, il design e le persone stesse che vivono in quella terra mi hanno travolta. È stato lì che ho deciso di voler creare qualcosa che mi trasmettesse tutto quel less is more. Partendo dalla borsa, emblema di femminilità per eccellenza, e immaginando un cammino molto più ampio. -

Caterina, tell us about your personal and professional path that led you to create yours first collection.

After years of consulting within a Spanish fashion company and endless business trips e pleasure I found myself, with an already large baggage of creativity, in beautiful Denmark. Copenhagen literally enchanted and inspired me. The clean and minimal lines that the characterize; architecture, design and the people themselves who live in that land have me overwhelmed. It was there that I decided I wanted to create something that would give me all that less is more. Starting from the bag, emblem of femininity par excellence, and imagining a long way wider. -

Qual è la tua fonte d'ispirazione? Cosa ti affascina?

- Mi ispira sicuramente tutto ciò che non eccede e che, anzi, elimina. L'essenziale è un punto cardine della mia vita. Cerco ogni giorno di non oltrepassare mai quella linea immaginaria che mi sono prefissata anni fa. Questo mi permette di godere molto di più di qualsiasi cosa mi accada. -

What is your source of inspiration? What fascinates you?

- Everything that does not exceed and that, on the contrary, eliminates, certainly inspires me. The essential is a pivotal point of my life. I try every day never to cross that imaginary line that I am fixed years ago. This allows me to enjoy much more of whatever happens to me. -

Quanto ha importanza per te il materiale utilizzato?

- Fondamentale. Ho deciso da subito di puntare in alto e di non cedere alle facili scelte. È complesso ma estremamente gratificante. Toccare con mano una borsa appena realizzata e sentirne a pelle, subito, la qualità è una sensazione che non voglio perdere. La ricerca è stata faticosa ma l'Italia è un paese fantastico e pieno di risorse incredibili. -

How important is the material used for you?

- It’s fundamental. I immediately decided to aim high and not give in to easy choices. It is complex but extremely rewarding. Touch a newly made bag with your hand and feel it on the skin, immediately, quality is a feeling that I don't want to lose. The search was tiring but Italy is a fantastic country full of incredible resources. -

Come riesci a mettere in relazione estetica e funzionalità?

- Le mie creazioni hanno la caratteristica di essere estremamente minimali, sia nelle linee che nei dettagli. Questo ha sicuramente facilitato il connubio e l'equilibrio naturale tra estetica e funzionalità. Borse di dimensioni Oversize che permettono un utilizzo giornaliero completo rimanendo comunque eleganti e facili da portare. -

How do you manage to relate aesthetics and functionality?

- My creations have the characteristic of being extremely minimal, both in lines and in details. This has certainly facilitated the marriage and the natural balance between aesthetics and functionality. Oversize bags that allow full daily use while remaining elegant and easy to wear. -

Le tue creazioni sono pensate per una clientela delicata e discreta, ma che sa essere decisa e che propone la sua presenza senza imporla ma "lasciando il segno”. Cosa ne pensi di questa definizione?

- Immagino da sempre, da quando ho iniziato a mettere le basi per questo mio progetto, a quale donna avrei voluto proporre le mie borse. È stato chiaro da subito e su questa idea ho continuato a realizzare le parti finali della progettazione. La mia donna deve avere in sé una forte personalità. Decisa e sicura delle sue scelte, anche se impopolari e fuori contesto. Una donna che non ostenta il suo essere perché non le serve il confronto con gli altri. Con un pensiero maturo che ti porta ad indossare qualunque cosa con sicurezza, eleganza e semplicità. -

Your creations are designed for a delicate and discreet clientele, but who know how to be decisive and which proposes its presence without imposing it but "leaving its mark”. What do you think of this definition?

- I have always imagined, since I started laying the foundations for this project of mine, which one woman I wanted to propose my bags. It was clear from the start and on this idea, I continued carry out the final parts of the design. My woman must have a strong personality in her. Determined and sure of her choices, even if unpopular and out of context. A woman who does not flaunt her being because she does not need comparison with others. With a mature thought that leads you to wear anything with confidence, elegance and simplicity. -

L'attenzione ai dettagli e alle galvaniche non è lasciata al caso, su cosa punti?

- La ricerca degli accessori è stata meticolosa. Ho cercato di trovare qualcosa che rimanesse in equilibrio con il mio spirito. Precisione e minimalismo anche nei dettagli; dalla rifinitura delle cuciture al rivetto, disegnato da me e prodotto ad Arezzo, patria del gioiello. La galvanica in oro chiaro è stata scelta per le sue qualità, come la resistenza e il connubio perfetto con il tipo di pellame utilizzato. Ogni dettaglio rappresenta quella che sono e l'impegno che ho dedicato a questo progetto. Tengo tantissimo ad evidenziarli e mi soddisfa immensamente quando vengono notati. -

Attention to details and galvanics is not left to chance, what are you aiming for?

- The search for accessories was meticulous. I tried to find something that stayed in balance with my spirit. Precision and minimalism even in the details; from the finishing of the rivet stitching, designed by me and produced in Arezzo, the home of jewelery. The light gold plating was chosen for its qualities, such as resistance and the perfect combination with the type of leather used. Every detail represents who I am and the commitment I have dedicated to this project. I really want to highlight them and it satisfies me immensely when are noticed. -

Per la tua prima collezione hai scelto il colore nero e il Terra di Siena, parlaci di questi due colori e di quello che evocano.

- Son partita sicuramente dal nero. Classico, intramontabile, insostituibile, essenziale, pragmatico. Non potevo che iniziare così, notando fin da subito un'affinità con le linee e i disegni delle mie borse. Come credo, alla maggior parte delle donne, il nero ci appartiene, rievoca la personalità più nascosta, quella che teniamo spesso a bada, segreta. Quando vestiamo di nero stiamo involontariamente lanciando un segnale. Ognuno con le sue sfumature. Il Terra di Siena invece è stato pensato successivamente. Nella pelletteria è molto utilizzato come colore perché mette in risalto le particolarità del pellame. Le rughe, i segni del tempo. Tutte caratteristiche che rendono il materiale più prezioso. Con questo colore ho voluto bilanciare la parte oscura con una parte più naturale. Il marrone rievoca la terra e le sue mutazioni nel tempo. -

For your first collection you chose black and sienna, tell us about these two colors and what they evoke.

- I started from black. Classic, timeless, irreplaceable, essential, pragmatic. I could only start like this, immediately noticing an affinity with the lines and drawings of my bags. As I believe, to most women, black belongs to us, it evokes the personality more hidden, the one we often keep at bay, secret. When we wear black we are unintentionally sending a signal. Each with its own nuances. The Terra di Siena, on the other hand, was conceived later. In leather goods it is widely used as color because it highlights the peculiarities of the leather. The wrinkles, the signs of aging. All of them characteristics that make the material more precious. With this color I wanted to balance the part dark with a more natural part. Brown evokes the earth and its changes over time. -

La produzione è totalmente made in Italy? Parlaci del processo che porta dalla selezione dei materiali alla manifattura.

- La scelta del made in Italy è per me fondamentale. La mia terra è un’esplosione di meraviglie spesso poco valorizzate al suo interno. I tempi non sono facili e la manifattura italiana ha subito un forte impatto negativo. Ma io, da sempre, ho voluto che le mie creazioni fossero un frutto totalmente italiano. Tutti i materiali scelti provengono da aziende del nostro territorio, dal nord al centro. Gli artigiani hanno quella poesia che solo loro sanno trasmettere. Aziende tramandate di generazioni che lavorano ancora oggi con passione e dedizione. Sono stata rapita dal loro mondo e ogni volta che visito i laboratori fantastico e torno indietro nel tempo. Non rinuncerei mai a tutto questo, sono delle collaborazioni preziose. -

Is the production totally made in Italy? Tell us about the process that leads to the selection of materials to manufacture.

- The choice of choosing made in Italy is fundamental for me. My land is an explosion of wonders often little valued inside. Times are not easy and the Italian manufacturing has suffered a strong negative impact. But I have always wanted my creations to be a fruit totally Italian. All the materials chosen come from companies in our area, from the north to center. The artisans have that poetry that only they know how to convey. Companies handed down by generations who still work today with passion and dedication. I was kidnapped from their world and every time I visit the workshops I am fantastic and go back in time. I would never give up on everything this, they are valuable collaborations. -

Cosa provi davanti ad una tua creazione ultimata?

- L’emozione è indescrivibile! Ricordo ancora la consegna del mio primo prototipo, quello che avevo sempre visto su carta era finalmente lì davanti a me. Mi sono sentita piena ed appagata. Ho capito subito che da quel momento in poi sarebbe stato tutto estremamente naturale ed è una sensazione che provo davanti ogni borsa. Finché sarà così potrò dire che la strada è quella giusta. -

What do you feel in front of your completed creation?

- The emotion is unbelievable! I still remember the delivery of my first prototype, what I had always seen on paper was finally there in front of me. I felt full and satisfied. I immediately understood that from that moment on it would be all extremely natural and it is a feeling I feel in front of every bag. As long as this is the case, I will be able to say that the road is the right one. -
