Il 9 marzo 2018 si è tenuta presso il Leica Store di Milano una delle tappe del tour promozionale de L’Anima Fotografata, un libro scritto da Tania Piazza e ispirato dalle fotografie di Ivano Mercanzin, entrambi vicentini. Edito da Divinafollia, per la collana Fuorionda, il 28 marzo il volume di centocinquanta pagine approderà, insieme ai suoi autori, in provincia di Vicenza, presso la Corte delle Filande a Montecchio Maggiore, dalle 20.30.
L’opera è l’unione di due arti, quella della scrittura e della fotografia. Ma qual è la genesi della storia? “Sono stata io a fare il primo passo, dopo essermi stupita della forza comunicativa delle immagini realizzate da Ivano. Mi è venuta subito voglia di raccontare il mio mondo attraverso quello che mi trasmettevano. Ho preso coraggio e ho contattato Ivano, il quale si è detto subito disponibile a collaborare con me.” Spiega Piazza.
On March 9, 2018 one of the stages of the promotional tour of L'Anima Fotografata was held at the Leica Store in Milan, a book written by Tania Piazza and inspired by the photographs of Ivano Mercanzin, both from Vicenza. Edited by Divinafollia, for the series Fuorionda, on March 28, the volume of one hundred and fifty pages will arrive, together with its authors, in the province of Vicenza, at the Corte delle Filande in Montecchio Maggiore, from 8.30pm.
The work is the union of two arts, that of writing and photography. But what is the genesis of the story? "I took the first step, after being amazed at the communicative power of the images made by Ivano. I immediately wanted to tell my world through what they transmitted to me. I took courage and I contacted Ivano, who immediately said he was willing to work with me”. Piazza explains.

Sono ventotto i racconti animati, componenti il progetto. Ognuno è accompagnato da una fotografia simbolica, spesso in bianco e nero. “Più che sul colore, quello che interessa a me è cogliere una determinata luce. Ecco, cerco di sviluppare una fotografia basata sulle ombre, dunque sulle luci, che sia in grado di risvegliare qualcosa nello spettatore. La copertina del libro ne è un esempio, ma anche la foto (e racconto) che, non a caso, abbiamo chiamato Luce, scattata presso la fornace Venini a Murano (p.108, ndr). Si tratta di un posto molto affascinante in cui ho scattato all’alba, per cercare di fermare la luce di quel momento”, chiosa Mercanzin.
Un altro scatto che dà spunto al racconto In questi giorni mai uguali, colpisce il lettore per i contrasti tonali dati dai giochi di luci e ombre realizzati dal fotografo. “Sono molto legato a questa immagine: essa ritrae un uomo, di spalle, con la testa leggermente inclinata verso il basso, che si incammina verso una porta, come se fosse una via di speranza. Ho concepito lo scatto presso il Convento della Madonna dell’Orto, a Venezia”.
E la Serenissima non è l’unica città immortalata, presente nel libro: si viaggia da Matera fino a Colonia, in Germania, per volare fino a New York, tornando poi in patria, prima a Milano, presso la casa del celebre fotografo Gianni Berengo Gardin, protagonista dell’ultima vicenda dal titolo Vertigine, e, infine, a Sirmione.
There are twenty-eight animated stories, components of the project. Each is accompanied by a symbolic photograph, often in black and white. "More than color, what interests me is to capture a certain light. Here it is, I try to develop a photograph based on the shadows, therefore on the lights, that is able to awaken something in the spectator. The book’s cover is an example, but also the photo (and story) that, not surprisingly, we called Luce, taken at the furnace Venini in Murano (p.108, ed). This is a very fascinating place where I shot at dawn, to try to stop the light of that moment”,Mercanzin said.
Another shot that gives inspiration to the story In questi giorni mai uguali, it affects the reader for the tonal contrasts given by the play of light and shadow made by the photographer. "I am very attached to this image: it portrays a man, from the shoulders, with his head slightly inclined towards the floor, who walks towards a door, as if it were a path of hope. I conceived the shot at the Convent of the Madonna dell'Orto, in Venice".
And the Serenissima is not the only city immortalized, present in the book: it travels from Matera to Cologne, Germany, to fly to New York, then returning home, first in Milan, at the home of the famous photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin, protagonist of the last affair entitled Vertigine, and, finally, Sirmione.
