Giovedì 27 gennaio 2022 Fondazione Pastificio Cerere (Roma) ha presentato La prima madre, una personale dell’artista Sara Basta (Roma, 1979) a cura di Cecilia Canziani e Costanza Meli. La mostra, che si estende lungo gli spazi del silos e il sotterraneo del mulino, entrambi ricavati dal recupero dell’antico Pastificio Cerere, resterà aperta al pubblico da venerdì 28 gennaio a sabato 26 marzo 2022. Esposte, un corpus di opere realizzate negli ultimi due anni che restituiscono una mappa emozionale disegnata dal tempo dell’artista: a partire da quello presente, vissuto e scomposto nella sua ripetitività, fino al tempo del ricordo, della ricerca nella memoria familiare, e alla relazione ciclica tra nascita e morte. Da tale relazione originaria, il percorso esplora i nuclei tematici che caratterizzano diverse serie di lavori di Sara Basta: la madre, la casa, la cura, il corpo dell’artista come sede e manifestazione di fisicità ed emotività.
On Thursday 27 January 2022 the Pastificio Cerere Foundation (Roma) presented La prima madre, a solo exhibition by the artist Sara Basta (Roma, 1979) curated by Cecilia Canziani and Costanza Meli. The exhibition, which extends along the spaces of the silos and the basement of the mill, both obtained from the recovery of the ancient Pastificio Cerere, will remain open to the public from Friday 28 January to Saturday 26 March 2022. On display, a corpus of works created in the last two years that return an emotional map drawn by the artist's time: starting from the present one, lived and broken down in its repetitiveness, up to the time of memory, of research in family memory, and the cyclical relationship between birth and death. From this original relationship, the path explores the thematic nuclei that characterize various series of Sara Basta's works: the mother, the home, the care, the artist's body as a seat and manifestation of physicality and emotion.

Sara Basta lavora sulle relazioni, indagando le tematiche dell’educazione e della co-creazione, del linguaggio e della memoria, in un passaggio continuo tra personale e collettivo. Attraverso la condivisione di esperienze legate a un “fare” comune, mette in discussione gerarchie e ruoli e sviluppa progetti analizzando la relazione tra individui e territorio, identità, educazione e linguaggio. I suoi lavori indagano tematiche come la casa, la cura, l’educazione, la memoria. Partono dalla relazione con gli altri e con il territorio e sono tentativi di ascolto che si compiono attraverso immagini e testi.
Sara Basta works on relationships, investigating the issues of education and co-creation, language and memory, in a continuous transition between personal and collective. By sharing experiences linked to a common “doing”, she questions hierarchies and roles and develops projects by analyzing the relationship between individuals and the territory, identity, education and language. Her works investigate issues such as home, care, education, memory. They start from the relationship with others and with the territory and are attempts to listen that are carried out through images and texts.

Collabora con l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, dove insegna Storia e Modelli per l’arte Terapia. Nel 2019 Sara è tra i trenta artisti selezionati per il progetto del MIBAC Grand Tour D’Italie. Nel 2018 con il progetto Le maschere dei vivi per I morti ha vinto il bando Della Morte e del Morire. Nel 2017 ha partecipato con Abito lo Spazio a School in Tandem, un progetto del dipartimento educativo di Manifesta12, Palermo. Con il progetto Femminile/Maschile nel 2016 ha vinto il bando Assemblaggi Provvisori. Ha esposto in personali e collettive in Italia e all’estero.
She collaborates with the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where he teaches History and Models for Art Therapy. In 2019 Sara is among the thirty artists selected for the MIBAC Grand Tour D’Italie project. In 2018, with the project The masks of the living for the dead, she won the Della Morte e del Morire competition. In 2017 she participated with Abito lo Spazio a School in Tandem, a project of the educational department of Manifesta12, Palermo. With the Femminile/Maschile project in 2016 she won the Provisional Assemblages call. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
