Il passato torna sempre. Lo sa Amleto, come tutti noi. Quando si tratta di avanguardie artistiche, allora, non si può fare altro che tenerne conto. È il percorso creativo che Sonia Catena ha richiesto ai designer protagonisti della settima edizione del suo progetto Ridefinire il Gioiello. Ri-definirlo attraverso la storia, la stessa che ha reso l’arte del concepire i monili una tra le più affascinanti e in voga del momento.
Catena abbandona temporaneamente Milano per spostarsi in un luogo più consono al dialogo con i bijoux i quali sono stati in grado di segnare diverse epoche: il Museo del Bijou di Casalmaggiore, in provincia di Cremona.
The past always comes back. Hamlet knows it, like all of us. When it comes to artistic avant-gardes, then, one can not help but take it into account. It is the creative path that Sonia Catena has asked the designers protagonists of the seventh edition of her project Ridefinire il Gioiello. Re-defining it through history, the same that made the art of conceiving jewelry one of the most fascinating and in vogue of the moment.
Catena temporarily leaves Milan to move to a place more in keeping with the dialogue with bijoux that have been able to mark different eras: the Museo del Bijou in Casalmaggiore, in the province of Cremona.

Nella serata inaugurale aperta al pubblico di sabato 24 novembre dalle ore 16.30 saranno presentati quaranta gioielli inediti, progettati da artisti italiani e stranieri i quali, con le loro idee, struttura estetica e capacità di rilettura di un mondo solo apparentemente arcaico, hanno saputo unire il loro saper fare, dando forma concreta alla sperimentazione. Si tratta di «monili che mettono in scena le potenzialità intrinseche del museo e degli oggetti in esso conservati, un luogo, memoria del passato, che non cristallizza solo anelli, collane, bracciali, orecchini, ma diventa spazio creativo e dinamico, capace di generare nuove tendenze e fonte inesauribile d'ispirazione per il gioiello contemporaneo. Il museo diventa perciò promotore di nuove narrazioni attraverso un meccanismo capace di mettere in connessione, mondi, stili, epoche e creazioni differenti.» Spiega la curatrice, che ha concepito il progetto nel 2010.
On the opening night open to the public on Saturday November 24th from 4.30pm, forty new jewels will be presented, designed by Italian and foreign artists who, with their ideas, aesthetic structure and ability to re-read a world that is only apparently archaic, have been able to unite their know how, giving concrete form to experimentation. These are «jewels that showcase the intrinsic potential of the museum and the objects stored in it, a place, a memory of the past, which not only crystallizes rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, but becomes creative and dynamic space, capable of generating new trends and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for contemporary jewelry. The museum therefore becomes a promoter of new narratives through a mechanism capable of connecting different worlds, styles, eras and creations.» Explains the curator who conceived the project in 2010.

Il legame con la storia viene enfatizzato anche da Archivi della memoria dell'artista Ida Rosa Scotti, un’appendice della mostra Ridefinire il gioiello, espressa attraverso sculture e disegni che «raccontano come l'atto del ricordare sia fondamentale per la vita perché la memoria è trasmissione di esperienze e quindi di cultura, e impedisce che fatti, vicende vissute siano dimenticati. Pagine ritrovate che rievocano e recuperano ricordi, custodendone le tracce sulla propria porosa superficie.» Conclude Catena.
