“Le assaggiatrici” di Rosella Postorino racconta l’ambiguità della sopravvivenza

La psicologia clinica parla del disturbo dell’adattamento, AD, come un disturbo che inficia il modus vivendi dell’individuo, il quale, esposto a più fonti di stress, risulta incapace di adattarsi all’esperienza stessa, sviluppando una serie di strategie comportamentali anomale ed evidenziandone un quadro sintomatologico dettagliato, in cui si elencano una serie di sintomi emotivi in forma più o meno eclatante. Rosella Postorino nel romanzo Le assaggiatrici (Feltrinelli), vincitore del Premio Campiello, rivela che “La capacità di adattamento è la maggiore risorsa degli esseri umani, ma più mi adattavo e meno mi sentivo umana”.

Ispirato alla vicenda di Margot Wolk, assaggiatrice di Hitler nella caserma di Krausendorfun, attraverso la voce di Rosa, personaggio principale, l’autrice riesce a catalizzare l’attenzione su un aspetto del nazismo sinora inesplorato. La protagonista attende il ritorno del marito dal fronte russo, così si traferisce a Berlino dai suoceri, qui viene scelta dalle SS per diventare un’assaggiatrice del Fhurer: ogni giorno è costretta ad assaggiare le pietanze che poi verranno servite ad Hitler, per verificare che non siano avvelenate. In compagnia di altre dieci donne tutte chiuse in una caserma bianca, vive con la speranza che ogni boccone mandato giù non sia avvelenato, donne con storie e drammi diversi che trapelano appena, per evidenziare un quadro storico ben chiaro: una Germania sempre più debole che vede sfumare ogni giorno che passa il sogno di potenza invincibile.

Inspired by the story of Margot Wolk, Hitler's taster in the Krausendorfun barracks, through the voice of Rosa, the main character, the author manages to attract attention to a hitherto unexplored aspect of Nazism. The protagonist awaits her husband's return from the Russian front, so she moves to Berlin with her in-laws, here she is chosen by the SS to become a Fhurer taster: every day she is forced to taste the dishes that will then be served to Hitler, to verify that are not poisoned. In the company of ten other women all locked up in a white barracks, she lives with the hope that every morsel swallowed will not be poisoned, women with different stories and dramas that barely leak out, to highlight a very clear historical picture: an increasingly weak Germany that he sees the dream of invincible power fade with each passing day.

Durante la narrazione s’intessono rapporti di ogni tipo: gelosie, ostilità, alleanze e amicizie e Rosa, che da subito appare un personaggio fragile, preda degli eventi, diventa protagonista della sua storia attraverso un processo di maturazione che la rende talmente forte, al punto da vivere una passione clandestina col nemico. Un personaggio dinamico a tratti controverso che riesce a regalare spunti di riflessione sul comportamento dell’essere umano di fronte a circostanze, in cui risulta pressoché impossibile identificare il fragile confine tra fare il bene e fare il male. Se da una parte il cibo è fonte di vita, dall’altra rappresenta causa di morte, se i figli della grande patria che è la Germania, muoiono lentamente per la fame, loro, invece, sono sempre puntualmente sazie dello stesso cibo che è potenziale causa di morte o piacere per il palato.

A dynamic character at times controversial who manages to give food for thought on the behavior of the human being in the face of circumstances, in which it is almost impossible to identify the fragile boundary between doing good and doing evil. If on the one hand food is a source of life, on the other it represents a cause of death, if the children of the great homeland that is Germany slowly die of hunger, they, on the other hand, are always punctually satisfied with the same food that is potential. cause of death or pleasure for the palate.

Attraverso una scrittura fluida tutta in prima persona, la Postorino riesce a raccontare dinamiche incontrollabili e surreali, analizzando le fragilità intrinseche della psiche umana, le stesse che emergono quando l’istinto di sopravvivenza comanda su ogni aspetto emozionale della personalità. Tutte donne, in ostaggio di chi si era presentato come il liberatore, loro non hanno via di scampo e paradossalmente neanche il “superuomo” che le costringe ad una vita di prigionia, rinchiuso in un bunker vittima delle sue stesse paure. Un romanzo che accompagna il lettore verso i grandi interrogativi di chi pensa di perdersi di fronte a circostanze pericolosamente surreali: “Come si fa a dare valore a una cosa che può finire in qualsiasi momento, una cosa così fragile? Si dà valore a ciò che ha forza, e la vita non ne ha; a ciò che è indistruttibile, e la vita non lo è. Tant’è vero che può arrivare qualcuno a chiederti di sacrificarla, la tua vita, per qualcosa che ha più forza.”

Through a fluid writing entirely in the first person, Postorino manages to tell uncontrollable and surreal dynamics, analyzing the intrinsic fragility of the human psyche, the same ones that emerge when the survival instinct commands every emotional aspect of the personality. All women, hostage to those who presented themselves as the liberator, they have no way out and paradoxically not even the "superman" who forces them to a life of imprisonment, locked up in a bunker victim of the same fears as him. A novel that accompanies the reader towards the great questions of those who think they are getting lost in the face of dangerously surreal circumstances: “How can you give value to something that can end at any moment, something so fragile? Value is given to what has strength, and life has none; to what is indestructible, and life is not. So much so that someone can come and ask you to sacrifice your life for something that has more strength.”
