“Donne che non si fermano alla superficialità”. Sono alcune delle parole pronunciate dalla designer di scarpe gioiello Alena Ettea. Professionalmente nasce come direttrice creativa freelance, per poi decidere di fondare un progetto creativo e imprenditoriale tutto suo che porta il suo stesso nome. Le sue calzature o, meglio, creature - perché vengono direttamente dalla sua anima - prodotte in Italia si ammaliano di bijoux e rivestono con eleganza sensuale i piedi della donna contemporanea così magicamente indotta, come Alena, a “toccare le stelle”.
“Women who do not stop at superficiality”. These are some of the words spoken by luxury bejeweled shoe designer Alena Ettea. Professionally she was born as a freelance creative director, to then decide to found a creative and entrepreneurial project of her own that bears her own name. Her shoes or, better still, creatures - because they come directly from her soul - produced in Italy are captivated by bijoux and cover the feet of the contemporary woman with sensual elegance so magically induced, like Alena, to "touch the stars".

Alena, una scarpa è?
- “Camminare con le scarpe significa prendere possesso della terra” diceva Jean Servier (storico e scrittore, ndr). Per me la scarpa rappresenta simbolicamente una radice, al pari di quelle di un albero in connessione molto profonda con la terra, che scorre attraverso il nostro corpo verso lo spazio, verso nuovi orizzonti. È metafora della vita. Può svelare una proiezione di noi stesse, promettendo di renderci uniche, femminili ed eleganti. -
Alena, a shoe is?
- “Walking in shoes means taking possession of the earth” said Jean Servier (historian and author, ed). For me the shoe symbolically represents a root, like those of a tree in a very deep connection with the earth, which flows through our body towards space, towards new horizons. It is a metaphor for life. It can reveal a projection of ourselves, promising to make us unique, feminine and elegant. -
Un gioiello, invece?
- Un gioiello è un’opera d’arte. Nella mia anima rappresenta una delle alchimie più profonde, un viaggio tra i più intimi pensieri appartenenti al mio immaginario sensoriale. Le sue sfaccettature sono il simbolo delle mie creazioni, identificano la mia ossessione con lo stato e il tumulto della mia anima. -
A jewel instead?
- A jewel is a work of art. In my soul it represents one of the deepest alchemies, a journey through the most intimate thoughts belonging to my sensory imagination. Its facets are the symbol of my creations, they identify my obsession with the state and turmoil of my soul. -
Come mai hai deciso di unirli in un unico oggetto, anche se poi le tue creazioni si possono indossare separatamente?
- La fusione delle due cose in una riguarda l’aspetto concettuale: dare vita a uno stile nuovo. Inoltre la scarpa gioiello incarna il mio sogno d’infanzia e quell’ossessione di toccare le stelle. L’attrazione ipnotica verso i cristalli, le gemme e i diamanti mi hanno portato a questo. -
Why did you decide to combine them into a single object, even if your creations can then be worn separately?
- The fusion of two things into one concerns the conceptual aspect: giving life to a new style. Furthermore, the jeweled shoe embodies my childhood dream and that obsession of touching the stars. The hypnotic attraction towards crystals, gems and diamonds brought me to this. -

- La bellezza degli opposti: l’alter ego maschile che incontra quello femminile. Quando la stessa anima si incarna in due corpi, unendo le energie femminili a quelle maschili, si parla di twin soul, è l’anima gemella platonica. Lo yin e lo yang. Questo è realmente accaduto nella mia vita e così sono nati i modelli Swan e Lyra con i loro gioielli. -
A common detail of both elements?
- The beauty of opposites: the male alter ego meets the female one. When the same soul incarnates in two bodies, uniting the feminine and masculine energies, we speak of twin soul, it is the platonic soul mate. The yin and the yang. This actually happened in my life and thus the models Swan and Lyra with their jewels were born. -

Qual è la tua storia? So che hai sempre amato dipingere.
- Vero. Sin da bambina ho amato dipingere ma il mio sogno è sempre stato quello di ideare e creare gioielli. Dopo l’esperienza lavorativa come direttrice creativa di abbigliamento maschile per produttori italiani, ho iniziato a realizzare una collezione di scarpe di lusso e, seguendo le orme del tradizionale artigianato italiano, ho cercato di mescolare innovazione e creatività, gioielli e impronta creativa androgina data dal mio alter-ego maschile: il tutto si fonde dando vita a un concetto di stile nuovo: la Alena Ettea’s luxury shoes collection. Il marchio combina in modo femminile e raffinato gli elementi classici e i tessuti italiani più moderni, per l’esigenza di donne contemporanee e dinamiche, genuine e sensuali, con particolare attenzione ai dettagli e all’eleganza senza tempo. Le mie esperienze di vita, i viaggi e le permanenze in vari paesi, accrescono la mia sensibilità e la mia curiosità per tutto ciò che è diverso, profondo e insondabile. Amo qualsiasi cosa abbia un’anima e incarni uno spirito indipendente, profondo e genuino: semplicemente, amo la bellezza in ogni sua forma. -
What's your story? I know you've always loved to paint.
- True. Since I was a child I have loved to paint but my dream has always been to design and create jewellery. After the work experience as creative director of menswear for italian manufacturers, I started making a collection of luxury shoes and, following in the footsteps of traditional Italian craftsmanship, I tried to mix innovation and creativity, jewelry and androgynous creative imprint given by my male alter-ego: everything merges to give life to a new style concept: Alena Ettea's luxury shoes collection. The brand combines classic elements and the most modern italian fabrics in a feminine and refined way, for the needs of contemporary and dynamic, genuine and sensual women, with particular attention to detail and timeless elegance. My life experiences, travels and stays in various countries, increase my sensitivity and my curiosity for everything that is different, profound and unfathomable. I love anything that has a soul and embodies an independent, deep and genuine spirit: I simply love beauty in all its forms. -

Un elemento che emerge spesso è la perla, del resto rappresentata nell’arte da molti, tra cui Botticelli. Ci sono artisti che ispirano le tue scarpe-gioiello?
- Io mi baso molto sulle esperienza della mia vita. L’energia di un posto che ho visitato o in cui ho vissuto per un periodo, un’emozione, uno stato d’animo. Swan e Lyra, per esempio, le ho disegnate i primi giorni in cui sono arrivata a Hong Kong e stavo attraversando un momento personale molto particolare. A ispirarmi può essere tutto ciò che mi penetra l’anima. Mi incuriosisce molto il nuovo, ciò che è fuori dalla norma, le diverse culture. Ultimamente è l’Africa a rapirmi. L’universo, tutto. -
An element that often emerges is the pearl, moreover represented in art by many, including Botticelli. Are there any artists who inspire your jewel-shoes?
- I rely a lot on the experiences of my life. The energy of a place that I have visited or lived in for a period, an emotion, a state of mind. Swan and Lyra, for example, I drew them the first days I arrived in Hong Kong and I was going through a very particular personal moment. Everything that enters my soul can inspire me. I am very curious about the new, what is out of the ordinary, different cultures. Lately it is Africa that kidnaps me. The universe, everything. -

- Dior, in assoluto. -

- Dior, absolutely. -

- Mi piacerebbe arrivare nell’anima della gente, portare loro nuova energia. Poter diventare uno spunto, un’ispirazione per le persone che condividono la mia visione della vita. Vorrei spargere eleganza, raffinatezza, autenticità. Vorrei rappresentare una donna coraggiosa, che segue sogni e passioni, incoraggiando e interfacciandomi con altre donne coraggiose. Donne che non si fermano alla superficialità ma vanno sempre un po’ più al di là delle cose, nell’oltre. -

- I'd like to get into people's souls, bring them new energy. Being able to become a starting point, an inspiration for people who share my vision of life. I would like to spread elegance, refinement, authenticity. I would like to represent a courageous woman, following dreams and passions, encouraging and interfacing with other courageous women. Women who don't stop at superficiality but always go a little further than things, into the beyond. -
