Nel mondo della moda si sta discutendo parecchio sul senso delle sfilate (o presentazioni) in tempo di guerra. Una guerra, quella che sta avvenendo ora in Ucraina mossa dalla Russia, combattuta alla vecchia maniera, ovvero con soldati, armi, carri armati. Tavoli per tentare negoziati che nel giro di poche ore non vengono approvati. Una guerra per il potere portata avanti da un folle stratega contro non tanto un’istituzione politica ma i civili, i quali ovviamente ne pagano le conseguenze per primi. Accade oggi nel 2022 - il che è già di per sé assurdo -, così come nei primi anni dei 2000 con Bush e le lotte antecedenti, come nel 1991 in piena Guerra del Golfo tra Iraq e States. Quell’anno, uno stilista italiano, noto al mondo per vestire le donne più belle e influenti del panorama politico ma anche socialite, realizza uno degli abiti per i quali verrà premiato in seguito: il Peace dress. Il designer in questione è Valentino Garavani. Il vestito riporta la scritta pace in quattordici lingue differenti cucite a mano sul tessuto, a simboleggiare un messaggio di pace universale.

That year, an italian designer, known to the world for dressing the most beautiful and influential women on the political scene but also socialites, created one of the dresses for which he would later be awarded: the Peace dress. The designer in question is Valentino Garavani. The dress bears the word peace in fourteen different languages ​​hand-sewn onto the fabric, symbolizing a message of universal peace.

Detto ciò, è evidente che esistono realtà con mezzi in grado di esprimere il loro punto di vista in maniera netta e pressoché a tutti, portando messaggi coerenti con il loro linguaggio, difficilmente fuori luogo e senza fare proclami che ben altre istituzioni dovrebbero incoraggiare.

Or maybe not, the alternative, especially today, is to communicate it through social media - Instagram is very useful in this sense - so that those who do not know where to start can have a trace. Having said that, it is evident that there are realities capable of expressing their point of view clearly and to almost everyone, bringing messages consistent with their language, hardly out of place and without making proclamations that other institutions should encourage.

Lo show è una lettere aperta “al coraggio, alla resistenza e alla vittoria dell’amore e della pace”. Quella inneggiata da tutti, scritta magistralmente sul vestito dell’Imperatore della Moda nel lontano 1991. Per non dimenticare, per celebrare la vita.
