Come fa la street art, che si è sviluppata fuori dalle botteghe e dalle gallerie, rimanendo così accessibile a tutti, a essere vista come atto vandalico? Tutte le opere di writing, così sono definiti i graffiti presenti sui muri delle città, sono motivate da rivendicazioni sociali, culturali e artistiche, spesso accompagnate da uno studio profondo delle tematiche che possono fare leva sulla coscienza delle persone. Quando dietro il disegno c’è una ricerca di senso, volta alla riflessione di chi guarda, allora quella stessa opera è da intendersi come arte.
C’è differenza fra una scritta senza senso, scontornata e messa lì, a imbrattare e coprire un punto strategico dell’architettura urbana, con qualcosa che concettualmente porta a fermarsi un attimo per cercare di comprenderne la sua ragion d’essere.
How does street art, which developed outside the shops and galleries, thus remaining accessible to all, be seen as an act of vandalism? All these writers works, as the graffiti on the walls of cities are defined, are motivated by social, cultural and artistic claims, often accompanied by a profound study of the issues that can appeal to people's conscience. When behind the drawing there is a search for meaning, aimed at the reflection of the beholder, then that same work is to be understood as art.
There is a difference between a meaningless writing, cut out and placed there, to smear and cover a strategic point of urban architecture, with something that conceptually leads to stop for a moment to try to understand its raison d'etre.

La street art nasce tra gli anni ’60 e ’70 a New York, durante il boom della nuova corrente artistica chiamata graffitismo. Di questa corrente, infatti, fanno parte la graffiti art, gli stencil art e la mural art. Tutti stili che hanno in comune l’essere una forma di portare il bello nelle città, trasformandola così in un museo a cielo aperto e, ovviamente, gratis. Immaginate, quindi, di muovervi nella vostra vita frenetica, al ritmo veloce della metropoli e improvvisamente di soffermarvi su qualcosa che, non si sa come né perché, ha catturato la vostra attenzione. In quel momento, riuscite a dimenticarvi di tutto il resto, il tempo necessario per comprendere un po’ di quell’opera e portarvela dentro. Di nuovo, nella vostra vita frenetica.
Street art was born between the 60s and 70s in New York, during the boom of the new artistic current called graffitism. In fact, graffiti art, stencil art and mural art are part of this current. All styles that have in common being a way of bringing beauty to cities, thus transforming it into an open-air museum and, of course, free. Imagine, therefore, moving in your hectic life, at the fast pace of the metropolis and suddenly dwelling on something that, you don't know how or why, caught your attention. At that moment, you manage to forget about everything else, the time it takes to understand a bit of that work and bring it inside. Again, in your busy life.

Ognuno è fatto di pensiero. Nessuno può smettere di pensare, mai, nemmeno un istante.
Pensiamo anche quando dormiamo, il sogno è un magazzino di pensieri conservati e messi insieme randomicamente. Si può, però, scegliere la direzione dei nostri pensieri. Decidere se fossilizzarsi su futilità senza risposta o approfondire stimoli che la città ci regala ogni giorno.
Il graffito s’inserisce in questo contesto. Dialoga con la struttura della città che lo ospita e crea intrecci e racconti nuovi, ispirazionali per chi, di tanto in tanto, si ritrova errante fra le sue strade.
Everyone is made of thought. Nobody can stop thinking, ever, not even for a moment. We also think when we sleep, the dream is a storehouse of thoughts stored and randomly put together. However, we can choose the direction of our thoughts. Deciding whether to fossilize on unanswered futility or explore the stimuli that the city gives us every day.
Graffiti fits into this context. It dialogues with the structure of the city that hosts it and creates new, inspirational stories and plots for those who, from time to time, find themselves wandering its streets.
Via Morosini, Milano – Love Seeker by Millo
Ci sono molti itinerari artistici che accompagnano lo spettatore alla scoperta della metropoli.
A Milano, attraverso delle app specifiche (come Street Art Map Me), sono stati creati dei veri e propri percorsi artistici.
Si può partire dai Navigli, a sud della città meneghina, con l’opera Music is a neverending journey di Orticanoodles, il collettivo della zona Ortica che ha realizzato il murales, di 400 mq, in occasione dell’inaugurazione della Music Week. Oltre alla presenza di spazi vuoti, volutamente lasciati dagli artisti in previsione dello svilupparsi di nuovi generi musicali- ambito questo sempre in divenire- è interessante la scelta di utilizzare vernici fluorescenti, che rendono l’opera fruibile anche di notte.
Ci si sposta, poi, in zona Piazza Cinque Giornate, dove si può ammirare Love Seeker di Millo. L’opera, ormai famosa, fa parte di una serie di progetti di riqualificazione urbana. Il contrasto fra i disegni neri sul muro bianco e i due cuori rossi, con alcuni muri grigi semi scrostati intorno, sottolinea l’importanza di saper guardare finemente, per saper scorgere la bellezza anche nei luoghi più inaspettati.
Risalendo verso zona Crocetta, in Piazza Cardinal Ferrari è possibile osservare i lavori di Orticanoodles, Pao e Ivan Tresoldi. In un quartiere pettinato, l’ultimo posto dove immaginarsi la street art, si ritrovano graffiti diversi fra loro, ma ottimi spunti di riflessione sociale.

In Milan, through specific apps (such as Street Art Map Me), real artistic paths have been created. You can start from the Navigli, south of the Milanese city, with the work Music is a neverending journey by Orticanoodles, the collective of the Ortica area that created the mural, of 400 square meters, on the occasion of the inauguration of the Music Week. In addition to the presence of empty spaces, deliberately left by the artists in anticipation of the development of new musical genres - this is an ever-evolving field - the choice of using fluorescent paints is interesting, which make the work usable even at night.
Then we move to the Piazza Cinque Giornate area, where you can admire Millo's Love Seeker. The now famous work is part of a series of urban redevelopment projects. The contrast between the black drawings on the white wall and the two red hearts, with some semi-chipped gray walls around, underlines the importance of knowing how to look finely, to be able to see beauty even in the most unexpected places.
Going up towards the Crocetta area, in Piazza Cardinal Ferrari it is possible to observe the works of Orticanoodles, Pao and Ivan Tresoldi. In a combed neighborhood, the last place to imagine street art, graffiti different from each other, but excellent ideas for social reflection.
Via Pontano, Milano – Hall of Fame
Il tour si conclude, risalendo verso la Milano Nord, dove esiste una vera e propria Hall of Fame. Il posto ideale dove ogni artista può contribuire con il suo concetto di arte e stimolare la percezione altrui.
Questo lungo labirinto di forme e colori assomiglia a una vetrina che espone stili differenti, che raccontano storie e punti di vista particolari e incoraggianti. Come a voler ribadire che l’arte è un concetto per tutti e di tutti e, forse, la città non è che il posto migliore dove sfogare la propria vena creativa.
The tour ends, going up towards Northern Milan, where there is a real Hall of Fame. The ideal place where every artist can contribute with his concept of art and stimulate the perception of others. This long labyrinth of shapes and colors resembles a shop window displaying different styles, which tell particular and encouraging stories and points of view. As if to reiterate that art is a concept for everyone and everyone and, perhaps, the city is only the best place to let off steam.
